James M. Smith of Somers, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Jim was born in Kenosha on September 7, 1946 to the late Merlyn and Ursula Smith. He ran the family farm with his father until 1986, and was a member of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad for 18 years.  He returned to school to study Mortuary Science and was a 1989 graduate of MATC Funeral Service Program.  He worked as a Funeral Director for several Kenosha Funeral Homes.

Passionate about politics, Jim served several successful terms as Somers Supervisor and Town Chairman.  He played an integral role in bringing several new businesses to the Somers Area.  He was a proud member of Somers Community Church.

Jim Married the love of his life, Sharon Bose, on February 8, 1969 who preceded him in death.  He is survived by his children: Michael Smith and Jennifer Miller and his four grandchildren.  Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 12 Noon at the Draeger Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road (Corner of KR & 22 Avenue), 262 552-9000.   Internment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  A visitation will take place on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Safe Harbor Humane Society, 7811-60 Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53142 would be appreciated by the family.
