Ray Bergquist

Ray L. Bergquist passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2026 in his family home.

He was born in Chicago in 1945.  His Dad was in the Navy and stationed near Wrigley Field which is why Ray became a lifelong Cubs fan.  His father was transferred to Kenosha where American Motors was making jeeps for the Navy.  The family lived in the Bonnie Hame housing project.  

He was educated in Kenosha; Southport Elementary, Lincoln Junior High and Bradford High School. He became a longshoreman for a few years before being drafted into the Army where he served a two year tour of duty in Vietnam.  He worked at Jewel Osco and then as a caretaker at a cemetery in Racine for many years. Ray loved to travel.  South America, Africa, Northern Europe and LasVegas were some of his favorites. 

Ray was preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Bergquist, and his mother, Marguerite Johnson Bergquist.  He is survived by his brothers Larry L. Bergquist of Clearwater, FL  and Carl E. Bergquist of Kenosha.

Services for Ray will be held at Kemper Center Founder's Hall (6501 Third Avenue, Kenosha, WI) on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 1 p.m..  A public visitation will also be held at Kemper Center from 11 a.m. until the time of service on the same day. A private inurnment at Southern WIsconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI will be held at a later date.
